The plankton fauna is composed of many species, including larvae (babies) of fish. The larvae have a very high nutrient content, so they are ideal prey for other larger larvae. Even of the same species!
Here, a bluefin larva has ingested two other smaller bluefin tuna larvae. Its eyes are seen through the stomach.
